What is rafting and is prior experience and fitness required?
Rafting is a sporting activity that involves descending fast mountain rivers in special rubber boats designed for whitewater, which can accommodate 8-10 people. The boats are operated by trained guides – skippers, who hold IRF (International Rafting Federation) licenses and extensive experience.
For rafting at Grand Tara Camp you do not need any previous experience or special physical fitness. Before each descent, participants receive all the necessary equipment and a short theoretical training to make the adventure complete. Our camp has licensed skippers and guides who will prepare you for rafting. All safety rules for rafting will be explained to you in a timely manner by the boat guide before rafting.
Contact us to organize the best descent for you. Your safety comes first and our camp will provide you with all the necessary equipment (wetsuit, helmets, boots, life jackets)

What to bring and what to wear for rafting?
Visitors are advised to come in sporty and comfortable clothing and shoes.
Be sure to bring swimsuits, comfortable shoes if you want to join longer walks, spare socks and underwear, and warmer shoes and clothing for late evening hours.
It is best to bring clothes that dry quickly and don't absorb much water when rafting, and it is best to wear only a swimsuit over which you can put on a neoprene suit that you get at the Grand Tara camp.
Your safety comes first and our camp will provide you with all the necessary equipment (wetsuit, helmets, boots, life jackets, etc.). The use of the above equipment is included in the price of the package. The wetsuit protects you from the cold by retaining your body temperature, absorbing possible impacts from the rock and throwing you to the surface if you fall into the water.
f you wish, you can wear a synthetic T-shirt and shorts under the wetsuit. We also provide you with neoprene boots, which protect you from the cold. A life jacket is worn over the wetsuit. You also receive a helmet, which must be worn overnight.
To organize a hike, you need to have your own equipment (hiking shoes, hiking clothes). Grand Tara Camp can help you purchase equipment, so please contact us.
