Canoe adventure on the Tara River

If you want to experience the river firsthand, a canoe adventure on Tara is the perfect choice. This activity offers a unique opportunity to get closer to water and nature in a way that is different from classic rafting.

The Tara River, known as the “Tear of Europe”, flows through the spectacular Tara River Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in Europe. It is here that we organize an exciting canoe trip down the Tara River, which combines adventure, nature and unforgettable landscapes.

What does a canoe tour look like?

The canoe adventure begins at our Rafting Grand Tara camp, where guests receive complete equipment and brief instructions on paddling and water safety.

After preparation, we organize transportation to the starting point of rafting on the Tara River, where the real adventure begins. During the descent, we pass through one of the most beautiful parts of the canyon, surrounded by untouched nature and crystal clear water.

In a canoe, the river is experienced much more intensely – you are closer to the water, you feel every rapid and you have complete freedom of movement through the river's flow.

Canoeing through the Tara River Canyon

During the 14-kilometer canoe descent on the Tara River, we pass through numerous river rapids and calmer parts of the river that are ideal for resting and swimming.

The canoe ride lasts from 1.5 to 3–4 hours, depending on the river water level, the speed of the descent and the breaks we take at the most beautiful places along the river.

This is the perfect opportunity to take photos of the spectacular Tara Canyon, enjoy swimming in crystal clear water, or simply feel the peace and power of nature.

Why choose canoeing on Tara?

A canoe adventure on the Tara River is ideal for anyone who wants a more active and authentic river experience. Unlike rafting where several people share a boat, canoeing allows for more freedom and direct contact with the water.

This adventure is perfect for:

  • nature lovers
  • adventurers who want a different view of the river
  • smaller groups of friends
  • everyone who wants an active vacation in the Tara River Canyon
